This past Tuesday we had the opportunity to visit the Embassy of Greece with a group of our Global Business Fellows. The students met with the head of the Office for Economic and Commercial Affairs, Minister Counselor Theodosios Vallas. Achilleas Rakinas, Third Secretary in the Political Affairs Office provided an introduction to Greek culture and history. The event concluded with a delicious offering of traditional Greek cuisine. Thank you to First Secretary Fani Lenou for helping to organize the event and making it possible for our students to learn more about diplomacy and the mission of the Embassy of Greece in the United States!
Last week, as part of the SFS Graduate Career Center’s Jumpstart January, IBD Professor Dale Murphy moderated a conversation featuring four @georgetown_sfs alumni entrepreneurs. Thank you to Brendan Foo (MSFS ‘15) of Forward Risk and Intelligence, Josefina Urzaiz (MSFS ‘07) of @cielohammocks, Stephen Rodriguez (SSP ‘07) of One Defense, and Jeremy Tamanini (MSFS ‘09) of Dual Citizen for joining us.
Thank you to Andrea Durkin, founder & principal of Sparkplug LLC and @georgetownmsfs adjunct professor, for serving as the keynote speaker at our Global Business Fellows Welcome Dinner earlier this month. Andrea shared a wealth of knowledge about her time as a U.S. Government trade negotiator and took questions from the Fellows, a combined cohort of undergraduate students from @georgetown_sfs and @georgetownmcdonough. All three cohorts of Fellows (Classes of 2018, 2019 and 2020) also had an opportunity to get to know each other and network over dinner.
Professor Dale Murphy, @ann_yang (SFS '16) of @misfitjuicery, and @thearmandosoto (SFS '18) with Ted Leonsis at this year's Leonsis Prize Bark Tank Event last Tuesday. Ann Yang's Misfit Juicery won the Top Prize of $30,000 in 2016-2017 and Armando Soto's Edgies Poster Hangers received an $8,000 prize the same year. Proud to have this group representing the many @georgetown_sfs entrepreneurs.
