IBD Hosts 2nd Career Prep Week

Over the past week, the IBD program hosted its 2nd Career Prep Week for Honors Candidates. This week brings together several workshops that focus on career development and exploration to help students successfully land internships and future careers. The week consisted of four different events:

Career Planning Workshop which focused on planning for post-grad jobs and beyond. IBD Alum and Executive Coach Rosie O’Neil took students through a variety of exercises to understand their core professional values and goals, along with general career planning advice.

Consulting 101 Workshop which included an overview of strategic consulting, management consulting, and niche consulting. This workshop focused on providing support for students in any phase of the the consulting recruitment process.

Think Tanks 101 Workshop which helped guide students who were considering a career or internship focused on research and/or policy. The workshop focused primarily on the think tank sector, but also discussed roles in the private sector, government, and more.

The week concluded with a Resume and Cover Letter Workshop that focused on crafting impactful resumes and cover letters for different roles and industries. This workshop focused on helping students craft a strong narative that incorporated the skills they’ve gotten from coursework and co-curriculars offered through the IBD Program.

The week was incredibly valuable for many students. Luke Madden (BSFS ’28) shared, “The Career Prep Week events helped open my eyes to the variety of opportunities available to students in the IBD program. It was very interesting to see how IBD students are able to be involved in both the public and private sectors and be fluent in the language of both. I also really appreciated the IBD program’s commitment to its students beyond their academic achievements. Learning more about how to succeed in professional life is an important component of a college education and I’m thankful that the IBD program commits these kinds of resources for its students.”

The IBD Program is looking forward to continuing to offer this great week to students. We are incredibly grateful to Rosie O’Neil for coming back to campus to work with our students and provide them with crucial insight into the career planning process through both the Career Planning workshop and the Consulting 101 Workshop.
