Co-curricular Learning

The Landegger Program offers a variety of co-curricular activities for IBD honors certificate candidates throughout the academic year, including workshops, seminars, and networking opportunities. Many of our co-curricular opportunities feature or are led by IBD alumni. The Associate Director works closely with students to offer relevant and updated co-curriculars throughout the year. A sampling of our co-curricular offerings is below.

Coffee Chats

Several times a year, the IBD Program hosts “coffee chats”, during which we bring together a group of <10 IBD candidates for an in-depth conversation with a featured IBD alumni. During these coffee chats, alumni share their experiences both during and after Georgetown with students, who have the opportunity to ask questions about IBD courses, job search advice, and about the alumni’s industry.

Seminars and Guest Lectures

Throughout the year, the IBD program hosts a number of industry-specific seminars and lectures focused on preparing for careers in different industries, skills development in various areas, and relevant global topics. The seminars and lectures are led by a variety of experts, including IBD alumni and professors, and vary year-to-year based on the interests of each honors certificate cohort. Recent and upcoming seminars include Consulting 101, Career Planning, Navigating the ESG Jungle, and the 2024 Global Macro Economic Outlook.

Workshops

Each year IBD offers various different workshops to honors candidates. These workshops focus on providing students with skills that are essential for success in various different career fields. Workshop offerings change from year to year and depend largely on student interest and indicated career paths. In previous years the IBD program has offered a Public Speaking Workshop, an Emerging Market Economy and Financial Analysis Workshop, an Excel and Powerpoint for Careers in Finance and Consulting Workshop, among others. The goal of these workshops is to provide honors candidates with supplemental learning experiences that will enhance their performance in internships and eventually their careers post graduation.

Career Preparation Week

1-2 times a year, the IBD program offers a week of activities catered towards career preparation and exploration. The week features programming in general career guidance, resume and cover letter reviews, and specific advice for those wanting to purse careers at Think Tanks or in the Consulting industry. Many students take advantage of this week through out their time in the IBD program to refresh and further prepare for their careers post graduation.
