1. Where did you grow up?: Alpharetta, Georgia
2. Current city: New York City, NY
3. Other institutions attended and degrees/ graduation year:
Studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at St. Peter’s College at the University of Oxford (Junior Year Abroad – 2013 to 2014)
4. Current role: Vice President at SWS Capital Management’s Clear Vision Impact Fund
5. How did your career start and what are some highlights? Following my graduation from the School of Foreign Service, I joined the U.S. Department of the Treasury as an International Affairs Junior Fellow. After two years of supporting the International Banking and Securities Markets office at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the main highlight was regularly exposing myself to how different countries work together in creating economic and financial policy.
6. What is your favorite International Business Diplomacy (“IBD”) memory? My favorite IBD memory was during a Careers in Finance workshop with the International Finance Corporation’s Chief Credit Officer. The candid conversations about the importance of not only preparing adequately for interviews, but also being a woman in finance set me up for my transition to the private sector after my time in public policy and the social sector.
7. How did your experience in IBD prepare you for your career? I personally believe one of the main ways to develop is by working on the hardest issues out there. The only way to prepare for that though is by building a robust framework in how to analyze and collaboratively craft solutions to different problems, especially when they are not in your wheelhouse. IBD was invaluable in helping me form that foundation because the classes always encouraged asking difficult questions that forced us all to level up. Moreover, the IBD leadership, especially Deputy Director Rosie O’Neil, always kept me on my toes so that I was never surprised when dealing with something outside my area of expertise.
8. What was your most memorable IBD course and why? Business, Accounting, and Finance. I enjoyed Professor Solomon’s engaging teaching style and it is one of the most useful foundational courses for my career to date.
