4. Current Role: Co-Founder of B•e, a growing business on a mission to cultivate the next generation of dreamers and change agents.
5. How did your career start and what are some highlights? My career started working for the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Beijing. Living in China while working for an American nonprofit offered unique opportunities, like photo ops with Yao Ming and coordinating over 150 interns over 3 years.
6. What is your favorite IBD memory? Being a part of the first WIFP cohort and interning for a summer in Stockholm.
7. How did your experience in IBD prepare you for your career? It prepared me to work in international work environments, reinforced critical business acumen, and expanded my vision for my future.
8. What was your most memorable IBD course and why? Because of IBD, I took an MBA course focused on Nonprofit Management. In the course, we did an immersive approach – building our own nonprofit based on the case studies and lessons in the class. In the end, we pitched our nonprofits to judges and got valuable feedback. It was particularly memorable because all of my other business classes in IBD or undergrad were focused in the corporate setting, and this was the first time I learned about social enterprises and worked on the business side of nonprofits. It was quite helpful as I moved to Carnegie since my role was largely finance based.
